Hydrophobic Window Cleaning Method Explained

Hydrophobic window cleaning requires the use of purified water. The water has to be purified in order for the system to work. Water tends to carry molecules of trace elements, which is why our windows can have spots on them after the water has dried. When water evaporates it leaves behind all of those trace minerals, creating spots that make the glass look dirty.
If we think of purified water as water that is in an unnatural state of being, it would make sense that the water would be attracted to returning to its natural state of being. Purified water is “uncomfortable” being purified and it wants to return to the trace elements that are found in water. Thus, when it is used as a cleaning agent for windows, the water molecules literally bind to the dirt molecules.
When the purified water hits the glass surface the dirt molecules are absorbed by the water, as this is the effort to return its more natural state. The water molecules bond to the dirt molecules and thereby remove the dirt from the glass surface. The final rinse washes away the dirt that is now bonded to the water and because you are still using purified water it rinses clean and dries without leaving any trace material behind. Thus, there are not spots on the glass.
This method is generally applied via a long pole that shoots the purified water. These poles are designed to extend several stories, with some reaching as high as seven stories up. Of course, high rise buildings still require at least some traditional cleaning methods in order for the windows to be accessible.
Because of the molecular structure of water and its reaction to dirt it can easily be said that hydrophobic window cleaning is at least just as effective, if not more effective, than using soap, water, and a squeegee while perched up on an elevated surface. In fact, with the elimination of the need for the squeegee it is becoming apparent that the hydrophobic method leaves behind considerably less streaking. The clean surface remains clean and the pure water rinse leaves nothing behind.
The basic delivery system for the hydrophobic window cleaning method is through a long reach tube that can shoot water.
